Academic Programs

 

Syrian Organisation for Persons with Disabilities – AAMAL is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation that seeks to provide rehabilitation services to ensure a supportive environment for persons with disabilities to enable them to effectively and independently participate in all fields of life according to international criteria under the supervision of international experts.

Master's degree programs:

Aamal, in cooperation with Damascus University and foreign universities, has established and opened many academic programs in master’s and bachelor’s degrees to meet the needs of society in serving persons with disabilities in the period from 2003 to 2023 in the specializations of (special education – speech and language therapy – audiology – psychomotor therapy)

Bachelor's degree programs:

Based on the organization’s strategy and with the aim of localizing these specializations in Syrian universities, Aamal Organization sought with the Ministry of Higher Education to support the establishment and opening of the College of Health Sciences to be an incubator for all the specializations of rehabilitation teams, and the beginning was in 2018 and the following is an overview of the programs that were opened in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The organisation  has planted 244 Cochlear Implant and provided more than 800 stethoscopes and more than 2,000 children who benefited from the speech and language rehabilitation service, the number of graduates to date has reached more than 240 graduates in various centers:

Statistics of the World Health Organisation  (WHO) indicated that the disorder is prevalent at a rate of one child for every 100 children globally, and according to the statistics of the Center for Epidemiology and Disease Control (CDC) in 2023, the prevalence of the disorder in the United States of America among children aged 8 years is one in 34 children.

1-3 out of every 1,000 births suffer from hearing loss.
